About IDA

ingraham-dancu-portrait In the early 1960s, James D MacConnell of Stanford University found O’Dell MacConnell Associates, one of the first educational facilities planning firm. A doctoral graduate student at Dr. MacConnell’s School of Education, Robert Ingraham, became a principal partner of this firm. After a number of years of consulting with educational organizations around the world, O’Dell MacConnell was sold to Westinghouse Learning Corporation. The new entity was moved to the Eastern United States. In the 1970s, Washington, DC based Westinghouse Learning Corporation exited the educational field.

At that time, Dr. Robert Ingraham and Dr. Larry Ramsey established AIDES, Associates in Developing Educational Systems, to continue the philosophical and practical approach of “converting curriculum to space” developed by Dr. MacConnell. AIDES eventually became Ingraham Planning Associates, Inc. in the early 1980s.

Dr. Daniel E. Dancu joined IPA as a senior partner in 1986 after many years as a teacher, school administrator, and educational planner. After Dr. Ingraham retired, the firm continued to assist school entities throughout the world as Ingraham Dancu Associates, LLC (IDA). IDA is honored to continue the work of Dr. Ingraham and Dr. MacConnell with multiple levels of the educational community from pre-kindergarten to post-graduate professional.
